Restorative Care

Dental Fillings
Restorative care at National Dental MelvilleYour mouth is filled with oral bacteria. These bacteria feed on the food particles left over in your mouth after you eat. As they eat, they produce harmful acids. When you don’t properly brush your teeth, or you miss certain areas, the acids are left to eat away at your enamel. Over time, small pits, or cavities, form as a result of tooth decay.

Root Canal
At National Dental Melville, our root canal procedures are performed using rotary endodontics. Treatment begins with a local anesthetic, which numbs the affected area. We then drill into the top of the tooth and use specialized tools to remove the pulp and nerves. Next, we use a nickel-titanium tip on our electric handpiece to shape the tooth’s canals.

Dental Crowns
Damage to your teeth can happen for a variety of reasons. No matter what the reason, this damage can compromise the strength of the affected tooth. It could face splitting, shattering, or serious infection. When your tooth is damaged, a crown may be placed to restore the tooth and prevent the need for an extraction.

Dental Bridges
One missing tooth can have a major impact on your mouth. If it is visible, your smile is greatly dulled. Food can become lodged in the space which is more difficult to keep clean. These both increase your risk of tooth decay and gum disease. Depending on the location of the missing tooth, you may develop a lisp when you speak.

Dentures - Complete & Partial
One of the most common causes of tooth loss is gum disease (also known as periodontal disease). Oral bacteria and plaque irritate your gum tissue, which causes it to pull away from your teeth. This creates pockets into which bacteria fall. From there, the bacteria attack your jawbone and periodontal ligaments.

Same Day Dentures
Dentures have been used for hundreds of years as a way to replace missing teeth. They have come a long way since their original creation. Recent technological developments have seen major improvements in dentures in just the last few decades alone. Today, they are made to be much more comfortable and look much more natural.

Inlays & Onlays
When you have a cavity, fillings are typically the go to the procedure. Whether we use amalgam fillings or composite resin depends upon your specific situation. However, traditional fillings are not always the best option. Cavities that are on the chewing surfaces of your teeth present unique problems.

Laser Dentistry
Gum disease starts quietly. Many never even know they have it. The earliest stage of gum disease is characterized by red, swollen gums that bleed when you brush and floss. These symptoms are often thought to be the cause of other issues, such as brushing too vigorously. As gum disease progresses, your swollen gums begin to pull away from your teeth, opening periodontal pockets.
